POST WRITTEN BY:

Digital updates coming in hot! With video content being top tier in the social media landscape we were so excited to see Facebook level up their user-interface with a dedicated video content tab. But wait there’s a whole lot more. Meta saw a range of updates across ads manager. Whilst TikTok, amidst its legal rivals with the US government announced a virtual summit for small businesses across the globe. Read on for the top goss!

What’s new with Meta?

Meta drops new Facebook audience setting updates

Facebook has introduced new audience setting updates, aimed at simplifying the process of managing audience targeting for advertisers. These updates include consolidated audience settings, making it easier to adjust targeting options across ad sets within a campaign. We LOVE anything that will streamline a process and improve efficiency and this does just that, allowing advertisers to manage audience targeting settings directly within the ad set level.

Facebook’s recommended budget update launches

An update to Facebook’s recommended budget increases has been implemented, affecting advertisers’ budget recommendations in ads. The update aims to align recommended budgets with campaign objectives and potential audience reach, providing advertisers with more accurate guidance.

Here are our top tips for businesses to stay on top of your ad performance:

  • Regularly review Facebook’s recommended budget increases to ensure alignment with campaign objectives and performance metrics.
  • Consider implementing suggested budget increases to optimise ad performance and reach relevant audiences more effectively.
  • Monitor campaign performance closely after adjusting budgets to gauge the impact on ad performance and ROI.
  • Experiment with different budget levels to find the optimal balance between cost and results for your advertising campaigns.

Facebook introduces a redesigned video tab for video content

Facebook has levelled up their game by introducing a redesigned video tab for easier access to video content, similar to the Instagram Reel feed. These personalised recommendations offer curated video content based on user preferences. They have gone even further by also improving their search functionality which allows users to find specific videos more efficiently.

Here are our hot tips for business owners to leverage these new features to enhance video marketing strategies on Facebook:

  • Utilise the redesigned video tab to ensure your video content is easily discoverable by your audience.
  • Take advantage of personalised recommendations to reach users who are interested in content similar to yours.
  • Optimise your video content for search to improve its visibility and accessibility to users searching for relevant topics.

Ads Manager drops new updates

This week Ads Manager has launched some new updates that may cause changes to the way businesses set up their ads.

Including:

  • Advertisers can now pause ads in Meta Ads Manager to stop them from accruing additional charges. Although they may still receive a bill for charges incurred before the ad was paused.
  • Facebook is gradually introducing greater daily budget flexibility for some Meta Ads Manager accounts.
  • This flexibility allows Facebook to spend up to 75% over the daily budget on certain days and less on others, depending on available opportunities.
  • Weekly spending will not exceed seven times the daily budget, ensuring some consistency in spending patterns.

To avoid any unnecessary charges and maximise ROIs here is our checklist for business owners:

  • Use the pause feature in Meta Ads Manager to control ad spending and prevent unexpected charges.
  • Understand that billing may still occur for charges accrued before pausing an ad, even if the ad is no longer running.
  • Be aware of the increased daily budget flexibility introduced by Facebook, which may lead to higher spending on certain days.
  • Monitor ad performance closely and adjust daily budgets accordingly to optimise spending
  • Familiarise yourself with Facebook’s billing and payment methods to ensure transparency and accuracy in advertising costs.

What’s new with Instagram?

Instagram launches new reel buttons

Instagram has done it again introducing new buttons in reels that enhance user engagement and content discoverability. The new buttons include a “Watch More Reels” button that directs users to the Reels tab. As well as a “Share” button that provides various sharing options through DMs, threads, and stories. We love to see Instagram continually enhancing its user interface to provide more opportunities for users to share and engage with a brand’s content.

Instagram Creator Marketplace Expansion

Instagram has expanded its creator marketplace to 10 new countries across the globe. The expansion aims to foster greater opportunities for collaboration between brands and creators in these regions to enhance the platform’s global reach. This feature, already available in Australia is great for streamlining collaboration between brands and creators for them to connect and partner on brand content and partnership ads.

Instagram’s new “Just Seen” Feature

Instagram has taken some inspo from TikTok with their new “Just Seen” feature. After clicking on someone’s profile after seeing their post on your feed it will overlay “Just Seen’ on that image. It’s the little things that Instagram is nailing at the moment, and we love to see it.
