So if you’re following along on my personal brand account on TikTok, you may have seen a recent trend that I jumped on to share a not-so-pleasant experience that Katy and I shared with our previous (toxic) employer.

And it went viral. Almost 600k views, 22k likes, 143 comments and 322 saves kinda viral.

The follow-up story time also managed to gather a whopping 20.5k views, 1027 likes, 51 comments and 106 saves (proof below).

But the truth? Going viral can sometimes feel like a one-night stand— exciting in the moment, but it doesn’t guarantee the long-term love your business needs.

Let me share the real tea:

  1. Immediate Buzz ≠ Instant Success
    Getting thousands of new eyes on your content is exhilarating. But when the initial high wears off, the real work is just beginning. Why? Because if you don’t have a plan to nurture those new eyeballs, they’ll vanish faster than Monday morning motivation.
     
  2. Turning Curiosity Into Connection
    You have to quickly pivot from celebrating those view counts to asking: “Who are these new people, and how can I serve them?” Creating follow-up TikTok’s and Instagram Stories that showcased my brand story, expertise, and personality helped me turn curious viewers into engaged fans.
     
  3. Consistency Is the Love Language
    Yes, the viral spotlight was fun. But consistent content, emails, and authentic interactions in my DMs are what truly keep our audience around—and wanting more.
     
  4. From Follower to Soulmate Client
    Let’s face it: One viral video alone won’t pay the bills. What really matters is how you guide new followers through a journey of trust and, eventually, conversion. For me, that looked like pointing people to a freebie, a discovery call, or an email series that showcased how I can genuinely help them.
     
  5. Loyalty & Advocacy: The Golden Ticket
    The best part of going viral has been the new relationships formed. Some of these new followers we’ve gained from sharing our brand story over the years (because without this story we wouldn’t have started Oh My Digital with the intention of doing EVERYTHING differently) have turned into loyal clients and brand advocates—sharing my business with their networks. That’s the fairytale we’re truly after.
