What’s new with Meta?
👀 Tests Spotted on Meta
- Meta is rolling out a new feature called “Events Coverage” for your Meta Ads Manager to let you know if you are meeting their “Best Practice” for your events. This new feature encourages you to aim to have more server events than browser events and gives you some ways to troubleshoot your ads if you are not reaching this.

What’s new with Instagram?
Group Chats from Story Mentions
One of our co-founders, Katy, noticed this update when posting to the Oh My Digital Instagram story and mentioning more than one user! Instagram now gives you the option to toggle on the “Start a group chat from story” switch when posting a story with more than one other user tagged. This update seems like a natural progression from the already integrated feature of sending your story as a DM to a user you have tagged, now you can start a group chat with multiple members tagged to keep the convos flowing!
Our Take: This feature further pushes the “personal connection” element that Instagram’s CEO has highlighted as their focus in recent updates. Instagram has said that their strength lies in “shareability” and their users’ connections with each other, so this seems like just another addition to promote this. This could also work great for small businesses to easily continue conversations with multiple customers or collaborators tagged.

What’s new with LinkedIn?
LinkedIn is giving businesses a little blue tick!
LinkedIn rolls out verification ticks on company pages to let users know which businesses are the real deal. LinkedIn’s team is reviewing things like companies’ websites, location, and if they’re actually using the page. It’s like LinkedIn is doing a quick background check on businesses. But don’t get too excited yet! LinkedIn is taking its sweet time to verify everyone, so don’t expect to see that blue tick on your company page right away.
Key features:
- How do I get verified?: According to LinkedIn, you can add your company page on a waiting list for verification in your settings and LinkedIn will verify your company at their discretion. It seems this is quite a slow, limited process so we will wait and see if this verification extends to all eligible businesses that have requested the tick.
- Who is verified?: Only a select few LinkedIn pages will get the verification badge this month
Our take: As LinkedIn marketing fans, we support any moves they make towards being an authentic and trustworthy platform, but it will be interesting to see if this offering is just for business moguls or even for smaller businesses like ours.
📔 Other noteworthy updates or tests:
- Snapchat drops their latest performance update, revealing an increase in users and revenue. They announce their new milestone of reaching 850 million monthly users with 432 million of those being daily active users. This is a huge update considering the introduction of stories to almost every major platform, seemed like the need for Snapchat would be phased out. The update does however recognise that the platform would like to see more growth in their ads from businesses so we should stay tuned to see if there’ll be more in-app ad integrations.
Withn LinkedIn becoming more “social-media-like” everyday and Instagram stepping up their personal connection components, it seems as though all platforms are becoming more similar and copy-cat everyday! We almost feel like at some point, it will be hard to differentiate their purposes. So feel free to sign up for our weekly summary here so you never miss the best updates. AND don’t forget, if you do miss out you can always go back to last week’s blog posts here.
